In short: Friday is arrival and a calm evening, Saturday is skiing from opening time and the thermal baths in the afternoon, and Sunday is early-morning runs on a quieter slope or a short trip to a historic church in Dębno on the way home.
A weekend in the mountains has one flaw: it is too short. Anyone who has spent half a Saturday in traffic near Zakopane knows how easy it is to waste. That is why the plan below follows one rule: as little driving as possible, as many experiences as possible on the spot.
Friday: arrival and the first evening
- From 15:00 check-in at Willa pod Smrekiem. You unpack, and your car stays in the free car park until Sunday.
- In the evening a short walk around Białka. A grocery shop and a pizzeria are right next to the guesthouse, so you can eat out or cook in the shared kitchen.
- Before bed prepare your gear and check the forecast. In the morning every minute counts before the lifts open.
Saturday: a day on skis and in warm water

- Morning: breakfast and a walk to the slope. The nearest lift is 800 m away and Kotelnica about 1.1 km. The first runs on freshly groomed pistes are the best part of the day.
- Midday: back to the guesthouse for lunch or a quick meal by the slope. An hour’s break lets you ski longer in the afternoon.
- Afternoon: a few more runs or an hour on the free cross-country loops.
- Evening: Terma Bania, 1.5 km from the guesthouse. Water at 34 to 38 degrees does something to ski-weary legs that cannot be described; you have to feel it.

Sunday: two options
Option A: early-morning runs
On Sunday morning many skiers pack up to leave, so the first hours on the slope are often calmer. Check-out is until 10:00, so load your luggage into the car beforehand and head out for the last runs with a clear conscience.
Option B: the wooden church in Dębno
If you are driving back towards Nowy Targ and Kraków, consider a short stop in Dębno Podhalańskie. The wooden Church of St Michael the Archangel, from the second half of the 15th century, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In winter, under snow, it looks like a Christmas card. Check the visiting hours before you go, as services are held in the church.

Practical tips
- Buy lift passes online. You save time at the ticket office.
- Bring flip-flops and a towel for the baths. Hiring them on site costs extra.
- Leave time for the journey home. On Sunday afternoons the roads out of Podhale can be jammed.
- Ask your hosts. We are happy to suggest how to arrange your day around the weather and your pace.
You will find details in the articles on the slopes in Białka, cross-country skiing and Terma Bania. Rooms for 2 to 5 people are in the Rooms section.
